The Concept of Religion and Religious Law in the Work of Karl Christian Friedrich Krause

Abstract

This article aims to uncover the argumentative foundations of Karl Christian Friedrich Krause’s concept of religion and of his theory of laws concerning religion in order to prepare both for subsequent systematic analyses. First, I introduce Krause’s work as well as its legacy and outline his philosophy of law. Then, I reconstruct Krause’s concept of religion and his theory of laws concerning religion before presenting conclusions and giving an outlook on future research.
