About the Journal
Zeitschrift für Theologie und Philosophie (ZTP) is a joint project of three academic institutions linked to the Society of Jesus:
Munich School of Philosophy
Sankt Georgen Graduate School of Philosophy and Theology Frankfurt
Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Innsbruck
The journal pursues the goal of promoting theological and philosophical research on a national and international level through systematic studies. To this end, it publishes outstanding German and English research papers and book reviews, all of which are first publications (online and in print).
Research papers and book reviews discuss a topic of systematic theology and/or systematic philosophy; special fields of interest are dogmatics, fundamental and moral theology, philosophy of religion, metaphysics and ethics. Submissions from other fields of theology and philosophy are possible, provided they deal with the research topic from a systematic point of view and are relevant to the current scientific discussion. In a special way, ZTP is committed to foster the discourse between theology and philosophy. Therefore, research papers and book reviews from the intersection of both disciplines are particularly welcome.
In order to promote the scientific discourse in and between Systematic Theology and Systematic Philosophy, ZTP occasionally organizes book symposia and publishes issues on selected topics. With this, the journal draws the research community’s attention to specific theological and philosophical topics and promotes in-depth discussion.
ZTP appears four times a year online and in print. It is not committed to any particular philosophical or theological current or school.
Peer Review Process
Prior to publication, each research paper must be positively assessed by two experts in the process of a double blind peer review. More detailed information about our peer review policy can be found here.
Journal History
ZTP has continued the two renowned journals Theologie und Philosophie (ThPh) and Zeitschrift für katholische Theologie (ZKTh), which in 2021 have merged into the new format of an online journal with print edition.
The Innsbruck-based quarterly Zeitschrift für Katholische Theologie was one of the oldest German-language journals of theology (founded in 1877). ZTP is continuing the volume numbers of ZKTh. Theologie und Philosophie, established in 1926, was published by the Jesuit faculties of Frankfurt and Munich. Its tradition and history is carried forward by the slightly modified title (Zeitschrift für Theologie und Philosophie).
