Dirk Ansorge is a Roman-Catholic theologian, born in 1960 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. He pursued his academic studies in Catholic theology, philosophy, and physics in Bochum, Jerusalem, Strasbourg, Tübingen, and Münster. Following the completion of his studies, Ansorge assumed the role of lecturer in theology at the Catholic Academy of the Diocese of Essen. Since 2011, Ansorge has occupied the Chair of Dogmatic Theology (with History of Dogma and History of Theology) at Sankt Georgen College of Philosophy and Theology, a Jesuit institution for higher education in Frankfurt am Main. From 2014 to 2018, he fulfilled the role of vice-rector at the College.
Ansorge's teaching expertise encompasses dogmatic theology and the history of dogma, with a particular interest in the theology of creation, theology of sacraments, Christology, and Ecclesiology. Since 2018, he has chaired the Alois-Kardinal-Grillmeier-Institute for the History of Dogma, Ecumenism, and Interreligious Dialogue. He has published extensively on systematic theology and the history of theology.
